The main aim of the course is for pupils to develop the skills and knowledge to analyse problems and design and implement digital solutions. Pupils will develop a range of practical skills in a variety of applications, along with programming skills and knowledge and understanding of technologies. Pupils will also learn about the uses and impact of emerging and innovative technology on society and on the environment.
Pupils will develop practical skills in website development, computer games programming, digital animation and using applications such as databases, blogs, wikis, spreadsheets, presentation software and word processors for storing and sharing information.
Pupils will develop skills in problem analysis and problem solving, following the software development process through to implementation.
We will encourage pupils to consider the impact that technology has on society and on the environment and the ways that technology has changed how people live and work.
Pupils are regularly assessed informally, through observation and discussion and formally through the use of end of unit assessments that use a wide range of techniques ie from short answer responses through to complete implementation of a digital solution.
- Pupils will study computer game design and implementation, learning about problem solving and computer programming to create digital games.
- Pupils will learn problem solving skills and apply them to design and implement digital animations
- Pupils will look at Information Solutions, developing skills to use a range of applications such as wikis, web pages, databases or blogs for creating, finding and sharing information.
